Meaning: Dilophosaurus means 'Double Crested Lizard'
Carnivore: Its loosely joined jaws prevented it from strong biting but possibly hunting in packs and using its claws to kill would have helped this dinosaur. It would also scavenge from any opportunity the Jurassic landscape had to offer.
When it Lived: Early Jurassic – around 201 to 189 million years ago.
Size: Dilophosaurus grew to around 6 metres long.
Location known: North America.
