MONGOLIAN DASH – Action Scene

Meaning: Gallimimus means ‘ Rooster mimic'

Herbivore: Gallimimus browsed off the lower vegetation of the Cretaceous landscape.

When it Lived: This dinosaur lived towards the end of the Cretaceous period - 70 to 77 million years ago

Size:  Gallimimus grew to around 6 metres long and was a very fast runner.

Location Known: Gallimimus was initially found in the Gobi desert, Mongolia.

If you remember the scene in the original Jurassic Park film - 'see the way they move', 'flocking in a uniform direction as if trying to evade a predator' - the herd of these dinosaurs streaming over the hillside and then being ambushed by a T-Rex. In this model, you can capture the atmosphere from this film - four Gallimimus running in a uniform direction with two shrieking and one looking backwards as if  being chased. This model is called 'Mongolian Dash'.
